RiverCare
The RiverCare & BeachCare programme brings together individuals, ‘friends of’ and community groups, canoe clubs, residents’ associations and neighbourhoods – all with a common goal to improve their local river or beach environment. RiverCare volunteers carry out a range of activities from habitat restoration and management, to wildlife surveys and of course lots of litter picking. RiverCare is an initiative delivered by Keep Britain Tidy and funded by our partners at Anglian Water.
LCSP are promoting the RiverCare initiative to communities in our project area, as it empowers local residents to take ownership of their local watercourse, keeping them free of litter and encroaching vegetation, to ensure that they are the pleasant, beautiful environments that they should be for people and wildlife.
LCSP have helped to set up a RiverCare group in Horncastle and there are now several groups in Lincolnshire.
Where RiverCare has not been the right fit we have helped to set up smaller community groups in other areas on Lincolnshire’s chalk streams.
