We are proud to introduce the Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project Strategic Plan 2025–2035 — a renewed commitment to safeguarding the county’s globally rare chalk streams and blow wells for the future. Building on nearly two decades of partnership working, this plan sets out a clear path to deepen our understanding of these unique habitats, strengthen their natural resilience, and enhance the biodiversity they support.

Guided by our new principles — Discover, Restore, and Enhance — the strategy outlines how we will work with landowners, communities, farmers, conservation partners, and volunteers to protect these fragile ecosystems. It focuses on expanding evidence-led conservation, promoting sustainable land and water management, increasing community involvement, and securing the resources needed to deliver long-term, practical improvements on the ground.

Lincolnshire’s chalk streams and blow wells face ongoing pressures, including pollution, abstraction, habitat loss, invasive species, and the impacts of climate change. This plan sets out realistic, achievable steps to address these issues, improve ecological condition, and support better management across the catchments.

The Strategic Plan provides a clear, workable framework for how the partnership will continue to make steady, measurable progress in the years ahead — ensuring these important freshwater habitats are understood, maintained, and cared for as part of the wider landscape.
