Waithe Beck – Classroom in the Woods

A previous restoration site, this beautiful part of the Waithe beck needs a little helping hand to keep it flowing. In the summer months the in-stream plants can impede the flow so we’re going to be removing some to keep it flowing. There can also be a need to thin out the willow that shoots up by the stream and quickly over-shades certain areas.

The river is on the same site as the brilliant ‘Classroom in the Woods’ so toilets and facilities available on this one!

If safe to do so, there may also be time to do a stream dip where we may conduct a basic survey for stream invertebrates, vital to the chalk streams ecosystem.

Please wear suitable clothing such as long trousers, long sleeved top and waterproofs, just in case! Suitable footwear is essential, either sturdy walking boots or preferably wellingtons. Please bring packed lunch and a drink.

No previous knowledge or experience needed, just your enthusiasm!

Please get in touch if you’re interested, (we like to know numbers beforehand), would like more information or you have any questions – email william.bartle@lincolnshire.gov.uk or phone 07786173611.
